Dominick “Dom” Severance’s hardworking and disciplined nature combined with his ability to provide a deep grasp of several areas of law has allowed him to gain the trust and admiration of business owners and employers all over Southern California. Dom is dedicated to helping clients find solutions for matters from the smallest of disputes to the most stressful and high stakes problems in their business and personal affairs.
Dom’s clients value his insightful assessment of the facts at hand and associated legal issues as well as his ability to think three steps ahead. Dominick is familiar with all facets of the law but he primarily focuses on working on Business/Contract and Real Estate related cases.
Prior to joining the Watkins Firm, APC, Dom worked for Thomson Reuters on their legal publications including California Jurisprudence, Causes of Action, American Jurisprudence Trials, and American Jurisprudence Proof of Facts. Dom analyzed over 8,000 separate cases covering every facet of law, updating publications relied upon by tens of thousands of California litigators daily.
Dom also gained extensive litigation and transactional experience as an associate at previous law firms. His transactional work involved forming business and non-profits, advising on employee, intellectual property, and governance matters, and drafting agreements, lot line adjustments, applications for certificates of compliance, CC&Rs, easements, grant deeds, and commercial leases.
Dom graduated Order of the Coif (top 10%) from U.C. Davis School of Law, receiving the Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence in both Mediation and Legal Research & Writing. Dom also served on the Trial Practice Honors Board and started an intellectual property law publication with over six writers.
Dom understands that no legal situation is easy and makes sure his clients navigate the process with a zealous advocate on their side. He communicates with transparency at every step of the way and develops a direct strategy specifically customized for each client’s personal issue. Dom’s goal is to achieve a positive result in the most cost-effective and efficient way for his clients.
OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
Dom enjoys spending time with his wife and three wonderful children. Fun Fact: while attending Christendom College, Dom taught over 400 hundred students how to swing dance. It was at one of the swing dance sessions that Dom met his future wife.
