We can use AI in ways that we couldn’t use our normal computer programs. We have AI on our data management system, so all of our documents, evidence information is in AI. We have AI in our research. So all of that is in AI.
It can merge together, which gives us a fantastic advantage. When we draft agreements, we don’t have to put in all the old data. We can just put a prompt in. AI puts it together and we’re ahead of the game.
When we have discovery, all the drafts come out, data management, computer research, all of our old forms together, boom. Within seconds, we’ve got what used to take days to do.

Video Transcript: Why is Watkins Firm Over the Moon About AI
We have a big advantage with AI. We’re excited. We’re totally committed to it. We’ve been doing AI since it came out. When AI came out about two years ago, it was terrible. We used it sparingly, but now 80% public AI is great. Our captive AI is 95% to 97% accurate. And when combined with all the other programs we use, we’re over the moon about AI.
It’s hard to believe, but yeah, never thought I’d say that. Everybody in the firm is just using AI like crazy. Our clients are using AI. If they’re not, we tell them which AI programs that are public that we like, or for different types of things.
Certain AI engines are good for drafting. Certain AI engines are good for pictures. Certain AI engines are good for the law. There’s so many resources out, so we tell our clients about them. If they want to know about AI, we’ll teach them because we’re using so much AI.
Every lawyer in the firm, every paralegal in the firm, every administrator in the firm could probably teach a class in AI.

Video Transcript: How Does AI Save Our Clients Money
AI saves our clients money in word processing, analyzing the law, and just representing them in the litigation. AI is the management of information. That’s all it is. It’s just another program. I’ve been using them for 35+ years, from a Dewey decimal system to computer research, and now AI.
It is information, data that we use as lawyers. We use AI for document management, and we apply it to our AI computer research, to the law, so that we can handle cases faster, better, and less expensively than a firm that doesn’t have AI.

Video Transcript: If AI is So Effective Why Do I Need a Lawyer?
Well, good question. I wish AI could read a jury. I wish AI could understand our clients and ask them tough questions about their life, their background, their family. All these things are going on in a client’s life matter to us.
The best thing about AI is it lets us spend more time talking about our clients and what’s going on in their life, than on research memos or on document summaries or deposition summaries. A deposition will be 500 pages and AI will answer any question we have about what was said. It’ll search it out in seconds.
So what do we do? We talk to our clients, and the clients have the information that wins or loses their cases. We talk to our clients about all the details that are going on.
So we use AI for everything and we have an advantage because we use AI.
