There are a variety of reasons two companies might choose to combine. For example, maybe a small business owner has built a successful company and product, but needs the resources of a larger business to help it reach the next level of success. Whatever the reason, mergers and acquisitions have been happening for years, with many successful outcomes. Yahoo, based in California, has recently made a series of acquisitions. Most recently, they acquired a company called PlayerScale.

PlayerScale is an online service that provides a platform for online gaming for its users. The company was created in 2011, and has since achieved a large degree of success. Reports indicate that the company currently boasts 150 million users globally, with 400,000 new users signing up each day.

Employees at PlayerScale are hopeful that their partnership with Yahoo will only increase the success they have already experienced. Since Yahoo is such a highly-recognized company, the hope is that their involvement will increase the visibility of the company. They are also hopeful that they will not only improve their existing services, but continue to add new ones.

Yahoo has recently been in the news for several other acquisitions, including the blogging website Tumblr. In addition to this, they have announced they have acquired several apps including Summly, Stamped, and OnTheAir. The acquisitions allow Yahoo to add new products to their line-up, with the added benefit of having an already-established customer base. With all the recent acquisitions by the company based in California, people are left wondering what they will purchase next.
