There are new Minimum Wage rates for San Diego in 2025 and minimum wage rates across the State of California. There is a minimum wage rate for those businesses who are physically located (and the work is being performed) within the city limits of San Diego.

The California minimum wage effective January 1, 2025 is now $16.50 per hour for ALL EMPLOYERS . In the past there were different minimum wage rates for different employers based upon the number of employees working across your company. This differential wage rate has been removed and there is now one standard rate minimum wage rate for all of the State of California.

For Example, the New Minimum Wages Rates for 2025 in the City and County of San Diego include a minimum wage of $17.25 per hour, effective January 1, 2025 for ALL employers with employees who perform at least two hours of work in one or more calendar weeks of the year within the geographic boundaries of the City of San Diego.
If your business is outside of the boundaries of the CITY of San Diego, but within the geographic boundaries of the COUNTY of San Diego, the California minimum wage rates above ($16.50) will still apply.
