When California companies challenge the actions of a relationship with another company, many of the challenges are initiated through a breach of contract lawsuit. A breach of contract lawsuit encompasses a claim by one company that another company has violated prevailing contract law regarding an agreement between the two companies.

The well-known social media company Facebook has filed a lawsuit against Profile Technology in California federal court. As stated in the lawsuit, Facebook is alleging a violation of prevailing contract law by claiming Profile Technology has breached its contract with Facebook. The lawsuit claims that Profile Technology uses profile information from Facebook on their website that is incorrect.

Facebook claims the profile information used by Profile Technology is old, out of date or data that the profile holder has removed from their Facebook site. Facebook claims the use of the previously stated profile data is a breach of contract of the data sharing agreement between the two companies. The lawsuit also claims that Facebook users have complained about the use of the outdated profile data, which has a direct effect on the profile holder.

This is not the first lawsuit between the two companies. About four months ago Profile Technology sued Facebook for a breach of contract claim. The breach of contract lawsuit filed by Profile Technology was filed because Facebook allegedly blocked Profile Technology’s web crawlers.

When companies have business agreements and the terms of business agreements are not carried out smoothly between the companies the potential for a lawsuit increases. An experienced attorney can ensure that a company is complying with the terms of a contract or are liable for an infraction of the companies’ contractual agreement.
