San Diego is a great place for new business opportunities. Are you thinking about starting a business of your own or branching out with a new one? According to recent surveys, San Diego ranks as one of the top cities in the nation to do just that. Part of what makes San Diego such a hospitable place for business formation in this economy are the low costs associated with beginning the venture within the city limits.
The Kosmont Rose Institute at Claremont-McKenna College recently conducted a survey of 421 cities across the nation. As a part of their investigation, the researchers studied business taxes and fees associated with business formation, economic incentives good for business growth and other factors associated with new ventures.
The conclusion was that San Diego was not one of, but the least expensive cities for businesses. What was surprising was that the city’s neighboring large metropolitan locales of Los Angeles and the Bay Area ranked high as the most expensive in the state.
Not only did San Diego rank high as an inexpensive place for start-ups, but in a survey published in Forbes Magazine it came in as the third best in the nation for tech-related employment. In two recent years, the city experienced a 16 percent growth rate for tech sector jobs and a 6.5 percent increase in STEM jobs.
